If you’ve used LockHTML, then you’ll be happy to know that the developer Bushe has recently released a new version of the jailbreak tweak on Cydia.
LockHTML 2 allows you to add dynamic HTML widgets to your jailbroken device’s Lock screen and lots more.
It has been completely rewritten so you will be able to use your Lock screen wallpaper as the background rather than using JPEGifier.
The jailbreak tweak comes with a dynamic HTML widget for weather called LS Air, which needs to be enabled via the Settings app. The jailbreak tweak provides a framework that can be used by developers to create third party widgets for it.
Please note that you will first turn on the Enable Html toggle (Settings -> LockHTML 2), before selecting the theme. You will also need to tap on the Respring button at the top right corner to apply a new theme. You will also need to disable the default clock (Smart LSClock Hide toggle) from the Lock screen to ensure it doesn’t overlap over the HTML widgets.
The tweak offers lots of other settings that allow you to customize the behaviour of the widgets on the Lock screen such as move the HTML widget when you double press the Home button to access the playback controls from the Lock screen.
It also allows you to customize the Lock screen by allowing you to hide the label of the “slide to unlock” slider button, hide the camera grabber and more.
Check out the demo video of the jailbreak tweak in action below:
It remains to be seen if developers will create custom widgets for LockHTML 2. I would love to see developers create HTML Lock screen widgets for web apps such as Forecast.io and Sun.
The tweak is available for $0.99 on Cydia. LockHTML 2 is a free update for existing users. You can click on the download link below if you’re on a jailbroken iOS device to purchase and install it.
Let me know what you think of the tweak below.
