» Twitter to Launch Standalone Music App?
Twitter is reportedly preparing to launch a standalone music app based on its acquisition of We Are Hunted, reports CNET.The app, to be called Twitter Music, could be released on iOS by the end of this month, according to a person familiar with the matter. Twitter Music suggests artists and songs to listen to based on a variety of signals, and is personalized based on which accounts a user follows on Twitter. Songs are streamed to the app via SoundCloud. The app's icon reportedly consists of a silver play button with the Twitter bird looking down on it from the top corner. When launched the app will offer a guided tour and ask Twitter users to sign in for personalized music recommendations. The app will work without needing a Twitter account. There are four main tabs in the app:● Suggested - recommends songs and artists based on a user's follower graph. ie. artists they are following, and artists that other people they follow are following. ● #NowPlaying - brings in links to songs tweeted by people you follow who tweet using that hashtag. ● Popular - brings in songs trending on We are Hunted● Emerging - tab tracks up-and-coming artistsArtists and songs are said to be displayed using a grid design. Tapping a tile for an artists causes it to expand and present a short bio along with links to SoundCloud and iTunes. A play button is then tapped to start streaming music.Read More
